Carbon footprint is a term describing the greenhouse gas emissions balance of an entire organization or, alternatively,
of an individual product or service.

It is defined as the total greenhouse gas emissions caused by an organization or product, expressed as carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e). Greenhouse gases (GHG) mainly include CO2, CH4, N2O and gaseous refrigerants. Gases other than CO2 are converted into CO2e using the GWP (Global Warming Potential) factor, individual for each gas.
