ATK - Active Taping Kit

Information
The Active Taping Kit - ATK is a finely tuned system based on the patented Active Compliant Technology (ACT) and a tape applicator optimized for robot use. This integrated complete solution automates the entire industrial taping and masking process with individual control of all process parameters: contact force, cutting, tapeconsumption. The ATK design is compact, light and enormously durable. Designed to apply various kinds of tapes on any part or surface with exact repeatability. It delivers perfect results without bubbles or wrinkles, 24/7. Robotized processing of free-form surfaces on contact requires an enormously high and therefore not economically solvable effort for the programming of the robot paths. If the respective actual contact point (TCP = Tool Center Point) deviates from the expected robot path, this causes quality defects and even damage to the workpiece or the robot. The ATK has the ability to recognize the current contact situation and reacts to it in real time. It thus follows the bionic principle of the human hand, improved by the accuracy to always keep the applied force and the path constant and to repeat it exactly identically. After all, the exact application of force is a knockout criterion for bonding quality. The tool can be moved quickly and thus production is faster overall. In addition, the task does not depend on the daily form of a worker, is always 100% repeatable and relieves workers from unhealthy overhead work and unrolling activities.

Argument
There is no competitor for the ATK and no solution for free-form surfaces that performs the required task in one step and adequately automates the manual activity. Robotized processing of free-form surfaces on contact requires an enormously high and therefore not economically solvable effort for the programming of the robot paths. If, in addition, the respective actual contact point (TCP = Tool Contact Point) deviates from the expected robot path, this causes quality defects and even damage to the workpiece or the robot. The ATK applies patterns of adhesive tapes with a speed of 1m/s (up to 2m/s tested under laboratory conditions) to any shaped parts or surfaces in a single step without bubbles or wrinkles. Thus production is faster overall and always 100% repeatable.
The ATK is a combination of actuator & sensor, innovative drive concepts, fine-tuned high-speed control and robust yet lightweight mechanical design. Perfect for very small (contact) forces below 15 Newton.
